Match and Company
bookshop M was established in 2005 and is organised by the Tokyo design studio MATCH and Company, which works in photography and editorial design. The studio's particular strength is a deep knowledge of the factors that make a book, typography, paper, ink, printing and binding, together with the history of book design, and its original photography publications are made in limited editions of 700 to 1,000 copies, offered abroad through the internet since 2009. The organiser and art director is Satoshi Machiguchi, the curator Hisako Motoo works with the shop as editor, and Hikari Machiguchi is a second art director. The books appear under three labels: M, M/Light and MMM.
