Morel books

London, United Kingdom

MÖREL, founded in 2008/2009 and directed by Aron Mörel, publishes artist's books with established and emerging artists and sees the book as “an important extension of an artist's practice”. Each project is treated as a collaboration: the press works with the artist from conception through editing and design to make a book that embraces idiosyncrasies and moves away from conventional publisher-produced books. It also works with writers and curators, and offers editing, production and distribution services for other people's publications, so part of the house is a small studio for hire. The London shop has sections for out-of-print titles and for “Bumped Books”.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
