KesselsKramer Publishing

Amsterdam, Netherlands

KesselsKramer Publishing is the publishing department of the Amsterdam communications agency KesselsKramer, founded in the mid-1990s by Erik Kessels and Johan Kramer, and it produces books on photography, art and some fiction made by staff of the agency. Its best-known format is the small-edition book built from found photographs, such as the Beauties series, with editions of typically 500 copies, and the books of re-appropriated images that Kessels has edited since the late 1990s, and the numbered issues of Useful Photography.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
