Chose commune

Marseille, France · since 2014

Chose Commune is a French publishing house founded in 2014 in Marseille by Cécile Poimbœuf-Koizumi, a French and Japanese co-founder, and it makes artists' books in photography, works on paper and ceramics, with prints and unique objects on the side. Its aim is to discover or rediscover lesser-known international artists, and each book is meant to exist on its own. The house curates, designs, edits and publishes, and it builds the books in close collaboration with the artist, as the result of an encounter and independent research. The shop has special editions and out-of-print titles, and a CLUB subscription, so a book can be followed from an artist's first discovery to a collectible object.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
