Ditto

London, United Kingdom · since 2009

Ditto is a London press set up in Dalston in 2009 by Ben Freeman and Lynsey Atkin, whose online home is now Ditto Nation, where the books sit beside subscriptions and shows and an About page that tells a myth about a winged salamander called Ben Ditto. It made its name with risograph printing, being one of the first UK studios to offer it, and it prints what it publishes: colourful art books are its stock in trade, alongside print production for other people, a shop, a gallery and a design studio. The list runs from photobooks and artists' publications to subculture titles, with Icelandic black metal among its subjects.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
