Wo-men

Czech Republic · since 2012

wo-men is an independent Czech publisher of art and documentary books, founded in 2012 by the literary documentarian Barbora Baronová, whose focus is niche and often taboo subjects, with gender literature among its main interests. Its books often combine photography with text: a literary and photographic documentary on intimacy, a book in which a woman's diaries are paired with her photographs, and a series on Japanese women. It sells through its own e-shop.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
