Twelve watercolour drawings from EYES, the series the artist Hiroshi Nomura has pursued since the early 1990s, in which he sticks eye-shaped seals on everyday objects such as chairs, bags, cups, glasses and T-shirts and photographs them. Here the motif returns as brushwork, and the book shows his keen sense of colour. The works look humorous at first glance but soon assert themselves enigmatically, and their stare raises simple questions: are we watching or being watched, and what separates the self from others?
