Models in kimono photographed in a forest near Seattle in the early 1970s by Shinya Fujiwara, a leading photographer and author in Japan. The pictures were first published with an exhibition under the beautiful title Yume-tsuzure and were very well received by audiences. This 2012 volume brings them back in a landscape format: a figure in a glowing orange and pink kimono stands against a deep red ground, and dark, saturated forest foliage with bursts of red fills the spreads.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
