The look in the mirror holds far more than just a reversed view of reality. At the latest since Alice set out on her famous journey beyond the looking glass, it is clear: here a comprehensive, radically questioning change of perspective takes place. Barbara Probst's new works embark on this journey. They were made in 2025/2026 in the artist's studio and integrate autobiographical quotations, sculptural and photographic works from the early 1990s. Back then Barbara Probst, coming from sculpture, began to engage with photography. Model-like arranged, coloured cubes, newly created in retrospect of this time.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
