With the twelve-part exposure #1 from 2000, for which she photographed herself running on a roof in Manhattan from twelve perspectives simultaneously, Barbara Probst began a photo-artistic long-term project that continues to this day. The current last, three-part exposure #189 deals with human bodies in sculptural appearance. In between she has treated countless pictorial themes, such as still life, street, nude, fashion, interior and portrait photography. In a constantly changing, diversifying and simultaneously accelerating multimedia world, in which the call for media literacy grows ever louder, her pictures sharpen our awareness.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
