The After Nature – Ulrike Crespo Photography Prize is a joint project of the C/O Berlin Foundation and the Crespo Foundation, Frankfurt am Main. In 2026 the prize is awarded for the third time. This year too, two artists who respond in photography and visual media to the changed ecologies of the present were honoured: alongside Stelios Kallinikou, Susanne Kriemann is a laureate. In his new project Kallinikou turns to the Akrotiri salt lake, part of the British military base and thus of the British Overseas Territory on Cyprus. An important wetland biotope in the eastern Mediterranean, the lake provides habitat for numerous animal and plant species and lies close to some of the oldest archaeological sites of the island.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
