The After Nature – Ulrike Crespo Photography Prize is a joint project of the C/O Berlin Foundation and the Crespo Foundation, Frankfurt am Main. In 2026 the prize is awarded for the third time. Two artists who respond in photography and visual media to the changed ecologies of the present were honoured: alongside Susanne Kriemann, Stelios Kallinikou is a laureate. Kriemann turns to the ramifications of the atomic age. In her work, radiation appears not as a distant or abstract phenomenon but as part of our immediate surroundings, for instance in the landscapes where uranium was once mined and processed. She likewise directs her gaze at the residues of heavy industry.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
