After examining Tokyo's train stations in his 2022 book Station, Retsu Shinoda explores the city's greenhouses with the camera. Less interested in the structures themselves, the black-and-white photographs focus on the oppressive humidity, the sickly sweet scents and the otherworldly atmosphere of these places, whose unusual world the book holds. The unusually dark prints depict the tropical plants growing in the closed space of the greenhouses as exotic and almost unnatural, yet still fascinating.
