At a turning point in life, Miho Suzuki chose to change environment, moving from a downtown apartment in Tokyo to a small town at the foot of the mountains in northern Kanto. At first the unfamiliar surroundings were unsettling; then Suzuki began tending flowers and vegetables in the garden, became more sensitive to the rhythms of weather and season, and learned the pleasure of waiting for spring. The photographs show the new surroundings with sincere appreciation: snow-capped mountains towering over the landscape, budding roses in the garden, ancient temples half-absorbed by greenery, cats and lizards, views of the hometown from above, and ponds and rivers in the nearby forests.
