The first volume to bring the work of Roberto Salbitani together as a whole, with many frames never published before. It gathers four of his major bodies of work — La città invasa of 1978, Autismi of 1997-2006, Il punto di vista del topo of 1992 and Viaggio in terre sospese of 1975 — around the urban landscape and its margins. What the selection shows is an ability to render a complex reality with a gaze free of cultural and ideological superstructures, at once visionary and naturalistic; from the nineteen-seventies on, alongside Luigi Ghirri, that gaze took part in the transformation of Italian photography, and it rests on a new ethics of simplification in which the unveiling of signs becomes an act of truth and of awareness.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
