The volume that accompanies the retrospective organised in Spilimbergo by the Friulian centre for research and archiving, edited by Italo Zannier. It takes its title from the sequence Salbitani built between 1974 and 1982, the one in which the journey is not a subject but a method: the unplanned discovery of places, the search for and the making of a chosen place, the attempt to read them and to bring their splendours and their fictions to the surface. It gathers the first twenty years of a practice that had begun in 1971.
