Nowhere else as in mónos do huts and palaces come so close. Vincenzo Pagliuca's book is an architectural B-movie set in the southern Apennines. The solitary buildings he photographs are simple houses, assembled from elementary geometric forms. Yet some of the rudimentary dwellings seem like pastel miniature parodies of historical or even avant-garde buildings. They appear out of joint, formed by a vernacular imagination.
