Toshiya Murakoshi's second photobook, photographing Sukagawa in Fukushima Prefecture, where the photographer was born and raised. The panoramic-format monochrome images suit the open landscapes and carry a distinctive feeling. Such elusive, empty landscapes are difficult to put on film, but Murakoshi delicately fixes light and the sense of air, and expresses the lyricism of the Japanese landscape, writes Osamu Ueno. The Japanese title, Kusa o fumu oto, means the sound of stepping on grass. A limited edition with one gelatin silver print (8 x 10 inches) in a sleeve case, in 33 numbered sets, was also issued.
