Ten years of photographs made on trips with monochrome film. In the artist's statement Shuhei Motoyama recalls loading the camera with monochrome film as usual and setting off, and, around the time the sun began to set in the west, finding that the film had run out; ahead, on a small shopping street with the smell of the sea drifting in the air, a small photo studio appeared, and the thought came that shooting could go on. The span of ten years has changed the photographer and the country, and viewing these photographs the dazzle of the light of that day shines into the eyes again.
