In the afterword Hisako Sakurai writes that the surface of the skin, the wall between the outer world and the inner, lets the photographer glimpse blood vessels, imagine the bones and faintly sense the heart hidden deep inside. The form of the body, wrapped in gentle curves, is a matiere of inexhaustible signs, something innocent and primal, and the endless expressions that come from such a body never cease to fascinate.
