The relationship we have with a place affects the way we perceive it: a place is objectively the same whoever visits and photographs it, yet it looks, feels and works differently depending on one's personal history. For this book Eri Tatara captured scenes of daily life in the small city of Yaizu in Shizuoka Prefecture. Though she has never lived there, family ties connect her to the area of her ancestors; starting from her family's temple, her family's grave and the former home of her father-in-law's family, she allowed her curiosity to guide her towards local festivals, people and sights. In the afterword she recalls feeling as if she heard a voice asking whether she had learned anything, and thinks of her late father's saying that God is within us.
