Over a period of four years the photographer Vincent Kohlbecher repeatedly visited Poland. Here he found motifs that took him back to his childhood, to the Catholic faith, to German history: Gdańsk, Warsaw, Kraków, Płaszów, Majdanek, Auschwitz. Kohlbecher's pictures are like texts that want to be read attentively. The spaces he describes with his images open up to the viewer only in the interplay of the seen and the remembered. Poems by Wisława Szymborska accompany them.
