For her series Archipelagos of Resistance, Johanna Diehl travelled several times between 2021 and 2024 to Sarajevo and photographed places and spaces where, in the 1990s, during the Bosnian War and the siege of the city, exhibitions, theatre productions, film festivals and concerts took place, or which were used as media centres, such as the Hotel Holiday Inn or the BHRT Building. At these places spread across Sarajevo, the archipelagos of resistance, cultural life continued despite life-threatening conditions.
