Christiane Feser's (*1977) works are border crossings between photography and object, in which the engagement with paper as material and image-carrier is the connecting element. In the series Partitionen, photographs of varied modular constellations are dismantled, altered and reassembled through manual interventions. Thus, from a two-dimensional photograph, a sculptural relief-like work arises. These fascinating images resist the quick superficial glance; they demand calm contemplation and intensive analysis. One wants to touch her images, to literally grasp or understand them.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
