Moires is a first-hand document on the activity of a contemporary artist whose art consists in photographing film images in cinematheques around the world. Some are presented here for their value as indications, inviting us to consider them in their singular autonomy as much as in the more or less oblique relation they establish with the text. The narrator's voyeurism places memory from the outset in a fictitious, cinematographic recollection; his gliding gaze delights in blurring boundaries, confusing levels of perception, viewpoints, times and identities. The result: private diary and fiction, memories and travel narrative, fragments, reflections, notes, interviews and descriptions of images stand side by side in Éric Rondepierre's book and weave the thread of a shimmering that takes on the value of destiny.
