Vanity of vanities, says the preacher; all is vanity. The work grows from a childhood in a small Brazilian town, where on Good Friday there were processions and prayers that sounded at once sombre and colourful: the body of Christ carried in a transparent urn, candles, the daughters of Mary, a staged suffering that somehow mixed with the real funerals held in the parish church.

Out of that memory the maker builds a meditation on transience, on display and on the images that outlive the body.
