On 15 October 2011 the Spanish indignados movement called for a day of global protest. In Lisbon the demonstration named "October 15, Democracy goes out!" began with a march across the city, but at half past six the protesters invaded the staircase of the Parliament and used it as an amphitheatre to hold a general assembly. A few hours later, as only a few of them were still camping in front of the stairs meanwhile recaptured by the police, the empty streets around the Parliament were full of the placards that had been held during the march.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
