"One cannot walk through an assembly factory and not feel that one is in Hell." (W. H. Auden) Fábrica is a collection of pictures composed into an expanded scenery of memory, a walk through the abandoned spaces of one of the largest factories in Europe, in a once flourishing industrial region that never recovered from the loss of the textile market to Chinese exports. Blaufuks worked the volume and the film that comes with it as a documental piece, collecting different kinds of memories, crossing old photographs, manuscripts and objects with views of the present state of the building interiors and surroundings. The result is a reflection not only on the idea of a factory in itself, most generic and abstract, but also on forgetting and abandonment, a memento about labour and the disappearance of the working class in Europe over the last century.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
