The exhibition and the catalogue that accompanies it open a valuable collaboration between two of the main Italian public institutions devoted to conserving, studying and making known photography: the Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia in Florence and the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea in Milan-Cinisello Balsamo. The volume presents the wide selection of pictures made in both collections and shown at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome (1 June – 3 September 2023). The choice covers an extremely broad span of time, coinciding with the history of the medium in the country, and composes a portrait of Italy as a place of desire.
