Paolo Monti (1908-1982), among the most important Italian makers, was an undisputed master for whole generations. Alongside the well-known professional activity — the surveys of the artistic and architectural heritage, the portraits of artists, the record of postwar museum displays — he carried on without a break an intense experimental activity that led him to reflect on abstraction.

It is a fascinating enquiry into the language of the medium and its possibilities, a side of his work that is still little known.
