If in the west the medium seems to have lost itself in the boundless production of images since the digital age began, in the Global South the practice is widespread and has centres of study and production of real excellence.

The volume presents the work of three contemporary Nepali makers — Uma Bista, Sagar Chhetri and Kishor Sharma — brought together by their attention to social, political and gender questions. Their work is a faithful mirror of the changes under way in the country.
