Polarnography is a collection of a hundred unpublished instant frames made by Araki in 2016, in which portraits of women and glimpses of sky divide the space equally, in a pairing that is never accidental.
His controversial nudes of Japanese women bound according to the kinbaku technique made him known the world over, as did the visceral love he holds for Tokyo, celebrated in many of his series and publications, from Tokyo Lucky Hole to Tokyo Diary and Tokyo Novelle.
