Known for working almost exclusively with the Polaroid, with which he has developed a highly personal technique of taking an image apart and putting it back together, Galimberti here reworks existing pictures.

The disinfestation of Wuhan in 2020, after the outbreak of the pandemic, becomes in his hands almost an image of dystopian science fiction, with a masked figure in a blue suit at the centre of a composition that fades at the edges into the blinding whiteness of the fumes and the substances sprayed by the health workers, while the front page of a newspaper calling for haste after the trauma of an earthquake sits alongside it.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
