Good Morning, America (Volume III) is the third chapter in Mark Power’s ongoing photographic exploration of the United States. Begun in 2012, the project has gradually transformed alongside the political and social upheavals that reshaped the country over the following years, including the impact of the pandemic.

This volume brings together photographs made across twenty-five states over an eight-year period, from New England and the Southwest to the Deep South and the West Coast. Rather than following a clear geography or timeline, the images are sequenced intuitively, creating connections between distant places and moments.

Power has described the editing process as assembling a vast and unfinished puzzle, where meaning emerges slowly through atmosphere and association. Although photographed across different regions, many of the images share the muted tones and quiet mood of winter, giving the work a strong visual cohesion and a sense of an underlying, interconnected narrative.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
