Flux, a Society in Movement presents the work of fifteen photographers or artist duos who bear witness to the many flows irrigating today's world and to their environmental and societal consequences. This possibility or impossibility of movement founds the conditions of existence of every form of life. But financial flows, logistical flows, human flows, electrical flows, data flows and raw-material flows entangle, race ahead and sometimes overflow. The book's introductory text, by philosopher and novelist Bruce Begout, a great explorer of our planet under globalisation, is conceived as a sixteenth contribution to the project. Through these singular artistic and critical languages, the book exhibits a broad panorama of today's French photography scene and illustrates the importance of the commission in the history of contemporary photographic practices.
