A visual anthology of homoeroticism and non-conformist counterculture by the queercore icon Bruce LaBruce, one of the founders of the homocore movement. A visual retrospective of his career to date, it includes film and artist works: stills from pivotal films such as No Skin Off My Ass (1993), Super 8 1/2 (1994) and Gerontophilia (2013), together with photographs from his personal life. The book features porn actors, trans people, punks, skinheads and skaters, and celebrates the beauty of the marginalised, the misfit and the outcasts of society. It centres on anti-establishment queer rebellion as opposed to rainbow capitalism and pink-washing, blurring the lines between life and work and stretching the definitions of art and pornography.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
