Zone d'intervention précaire is a book in which the images photograph the text, and whose narrative intends to reveal the photographs. The text therefore does not comment on the pictures: the pictures develop the text according to the time of a memory that inscribes "the photographic event" in a fantasy dimension. The chosen iconography aims to restore the photographic becoming of a memory, and Jean-Michel Fauquet's work is the faithful resumption of the arts of memory. Francis Cohen and Jean-Michel Fauquet propose a book that never ceases to disjoin gaze and vision, that digs the gap to turn us away from photography. The stake would be the following: what can one see of a photograph that looks at us? How to orient the gaze? A topographic device guides the eye's path through zones that offer the eye viewpoints.
