Bob Willoughby photographs the jazz scene of the 1950s and frequents the recording studios. He quickly becomes, as he would with film actors, a familiar of jazz musicians. He photographs many young musicians who would become the great figures of jazz in the second half of the twentieth century, and he also crosses paths with some already confirmed talents such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis and Chet Baker, or the astonishing Billie Holiday, who embody a relatively traditional musical form.
