Work by the great Welsh landscape photographer John Davies devoted to the site of Paulilles, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. This 30-hectare estate, occupied by a former dynamite factory, had been bought by the developer Jean-Claude Méry who, although the site is listed, intended to carry out a major tourist development and a marina there. Acquired by the Conservatoire in 1998, the site is being rehabilitated. It was important to preserve the memory of this industrial landscape and of its return to the wild. John Davies's photographs take stock of the estate; they will be retaken identically every two years to constitute the film of the site's evolution, according to the principles of the Observatoire du Paysage.
