This book is made of Denise Colomb's memories from 1930 to the present day. It is not a diary but rather a jumbled account of wandering memories: the snapshots of a life, the war, family, travels, encounters, Artaud, de Staël. It contains unpublished, surrealist images, glass heads and facsimiles of her handwritten notebook, and it is also the occasion to celebrate her hundredth birthday on 1 April 2002. "I must have been about fifteen. Rue des Vignes. My mother lying down, her thick plait crowning her head! Her sparkling teeth lit up her face. I had found her beautiful, so beautiful. I wanted to fix this moment in my memory. Beautiful, so beautiful still on her deathbed. A smooth face and an air of gentleness that I had never known in her."
