Une vie de poulet offers a series of diptychs made of two reports: one in colour centred on the chicken industry, the other in black and white focused on military service. By confronting these two sets, Olivier Culmann understood that he had in fact photographed only one and the same story: that of alienation and its consequences (war, butchery). But far from any pathos, he knew how to draw from it, with humour, a little pamphlet that casts an ironic and tender look on those who are forced to follow only one path.
