The new cellar of Château Castigno, signed by the atypical architect Lionel Jadot, is the work of a lifetime, a promise kept, for the winegrowing couple Tine and Marc Verstraete, owners of the estate in the Hérault. Set in the middle of the vines, its eighteen hundred square metres intrigue: depending on the viewing angle or the distance, one would think, so simple is the line that drew it, taken from a first sketch, of a giant hut imagined by a kid. One has to project oneself into the air to see, weightless, a bottle that is both a state-of-the-art work tool and a true Land Art sculpture. At Château Castigno art and vine make common cause. For four months, over a summer, the village lives in the singular vibration of photography, hung large-format in the open air, on the occasion of the presentation of the works of three artists, Patrick Tourneboeuf, Stéphane Lavoué and Bertrand Meunier, who came here in residence at the proposal of the photographer Gilles Coulon, member of the Tendance Floue collective and artistic director of the project "Tribu". He seeks "complementarity and rupture, the warm colours of one and the black and white of the other, the precision and efficiency of the third".

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
