For almost forty years Thibaut Cuisset built a body of work on landscape through successive campaigns in France and abroad. Walking the landscapes, he developed a singular style based on a tenuous balance between subject, colour and light. The French countryside and the courses of rivers are an essential field of research in this work, and the corpus of images built around the Loire is a notable demonstration of it, bearing witness both to the constancy of the photographer's writing and to its evolution, in composition as well as in the ways of exhibiting the pictures. The exhibition presented at the Château de Tours shows what Cuisset made around the Loire over nearly a decade, through several commissions and prizes. Bringing together for the first time all these series and offering some unpublished images, it allows an in-depth look at his work on landscape. With his view camera he travels the 1,006 kilometres of the river, crossing the regions Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Centre-Val de Loire and Pays de la Loire, and the constancy of his approach shows the different states of the landscape, its variety and its variations.
