The face carries life. In its reliefs, its movements, its colours, it welcomes and opposes, it gives and takes. The place is Jerusalem. The city imposes itself in its geography, precise and complicated; it moves and it is still. These photographs articulate this double geography and seek, with patience and curiosity, to establish its cohesion. One does not escape one's face, and the photographer's lens does not escape Jerusalem. The faces look at the city, with its certainties and its questions, its convictions and its doubts. The lens does not avoid the obstacles: it knows the contrasts and the asperities, the tears and the sufferings too.
