These images were made in territories marked by current events or by History. Guillaume Janot introduces a slight shift with the genre he claims to adopt, from amateur photography to the postcard by way of the post-office calendar, and thus questions the notion of cliché and the status of images. Embracing the seduction of the "beautiful image", he plays on different registers and levels of discourse. At Berchtesgaden, for instance, he photographs landscapes steeped in romanticism from the top of Hitler's Eagle's Nest, creating a hiatus between the bucolic, picturesque character of the landscape and the historical charge evoked by the viewpoint. He plays on displacement or superimposition, as with Abbey Road, in reference to the famous cover of the Beatles album.
