The Planches Contact festival is an invitation to escape in which photography takes on an extraordinary dimension. Based on public commissions, it hosts international photographers on annual residencies; their works, shown at large format throughout the city, stimulate artistic creation while offering a unique perspective on the evolution of the territory. The 2023 festival welcomes on residency a selection of renowned artists, among them Jacopo Benassi, Luca Boffi, Elina Brotherus, Olivier Culmann, Omar Victor Diop, Max Pam, Jean-François Spricigo, Salvatore Puglia, Margot Wallard and Matt Wilson. It has also invited exceptional artists: Robert Doisneau and Malick Sidibé, legends of photography, as well as The Anonymous Project and Olivier Goy, contemporary talents bringing unique perspectives. In collaboration with the Photo4Food foundation it invited Carline Bourdelas, Benjamin Decoin, Thomas Jorion, Sandra Matamoros and Julien Mignot, whose work helps raise awareness of crucial issues of our time. Finally, in the Tremplin Jeunes Talents programme, it presents five promising young photographers: Ousmane Goïta, Julia Lê, Carlo Lombardi, Isabelle Scotta and Sidonie Van Den Dries.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
