For Paul Pouvreau, the medium cannot be thought without the combination of two architectures that mirror each other: the view camera and the studio. In this sense his work escapes too Greenbergian a conception of artistic modernity, in so far as, unlike other artists of his generation, he does not seek to decline the specificities of the medium. He rather makes of photography a space in perpetual construction in which the signs of a mimesis in crisis are displayed.
