This long-term photographic work began in 2008 and ended in 2019. But the series as presented here was born in 2015, after the attacks of 13 November, an event that resonated strongly and awoke in the artist a deep anguish of death. She conceived the series as a great self-portrait that aims to be universal, with the idea of presenting the pictures as if they were the last. Her images are thought out, written (a little in the manner of the surrealists' automatic writing) and then drawn; the photographic act comes last. This slow creative process means she produces very few images. It is a matter here of a double crossing, that of the mental picture to the image. "With my view camera I carried out excavations to constitute an intimate reliquary. An inner archaeology. Where borders distort, where the beyond prowls to frame a world between two waters. I plunged inside, into an underground world, into a buried dream where roots and dreamed memories mingle. And it is again borders and perceptions that are at stake. I brought up symbolic objects and scraps of bodies to recreate in the crypt of the studio fragments of rites, bestiary, inventory of vestiges. Mental pictures."
