Filmmaker Christophe Acker signs the residency of this tenth edition and proposes a film that approaches the city of Vichy through dance and movement in order to consider it as a body and a living system. The heart of the city, its arteries, its nerve centre, its parks and gardens as its lungs: organicist and even animist metaphors that equate urban space with an organism, in both physical and functional terms, and which Acker uses to create a pulse in the city. Accompanied by the choreographer Johana Malédon, he went from one neighbourhood to another to meet Vichy's inhabitants, pupils of dancing schools and a horsewoman, shifting lines and bringing to light the links between the movement of bodies and architectural lines. His proposal offers a singular view of the city. The photographic residency was entrusted this year to French filmmaker Christophe Acker, who worked with pupils from the town's dancing schools, a horsewoman and an acrobat on an astonishing "danced" tour of the city, through a film screened at the Palais des Congrès and photographs displayed on the station forecourt.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
