The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum remains a place devoted not only to contemporary photography but also to optical imagery. This non-exhaustive presentation tries to convey the teeming, prolific activity of Japanese culture in terms of multimedia and digital supports. The book gathers the gaze of several artists around the theme of artificial intelligence, among them Norihisa Hashimoto, Yoichiro Kawaguchi, Tadanori Yokoo, Taizo Matsumura, Yukio Fujimoto and Yasuhito Nagahara, and the growing importance of new technologies and mechanisation at the dawn of the twenty-first century, setting man and machine side by side. Arousing both fascination and rejection, this coexistence with new robotised environments lets us observe their interactions with everyday life.
